Disabling Direct Draw

Start DxDiag by using the "Run..." command from the Start menu,

select "Yes" when the "DirectX Diagnostic Tool" prompts you,

Select the "Display" tab and wait if necessary,

and click on the "Disable" button next to "DirectDraw Acceleration"

which brings up a confirmation dialog. Select "Okay" and you should have a dialog like this one. Both "DirectDraw Acceleration" and "Direct3D Acceleration" should both be disabled now.
