Virtual Cell General Public Walkthrough
This page is dedicated to guiding a Virtual Cell general user through the registration process for the Virtual Cell.
If you are a teacher or researcher and wishes to create a class, please register at the Faculty Site.
If you are a student and wish to register under a teacher's class, please register at the Student Site.
Step 1: Point your browser to http://vcell.ndsu.edu
Step 2: Click on the link General Public Site.
You may learn more about the Virtual Cell and the World Wide Web Instructional Committee (WWWIC) by clicking on the various links in the left menu.
Step 3: When you are ready to register, click on Registration
Note: If you have already registered, please go to Step 7.
Step 4: Fill in the registration form. The fields marked with an asterisk (*) are required.
Step 5: Once you are done filling in the registration form fields, click "Create Account"
If you successfully completed the registration form, you will end up at a webpage listing your account information. This information includes your username and password which you will use to login to the Virtual Cell. The same information is e-mailed to you as well for future reference.
Step 6: Click on the link "VCell Home", or point your browser to http://vcell.ndsu.edu/public.html
Step 7: Click on "Login & Play".
Step 8: Using your Virtual Cell username and password, login to the Virtual Cell in the corresponding fields.
At this point, your web browser may ask if you would like to open a file called "client-new.php". If this is the case, click on "open" and the Virtual Cell will initialize. You may have to click "Start" once the initialization is complete.
Step 9: When the Virtual Cell loads, you may have to enter your password again.
