Get Sun Java
The
NDSU Virtual Cell currently utilizes the Xj3D Browser
library to bring you the 3D virtual
cell experience in your browser's window. Those
accessing the Virtual Cell through NDSU ITS run cluster
machines should not need to download any software.
For Windows users, the Sun Java 2 software is required by the current
version of the system, but Windows users
should be able to use the web browser of their
choice.
The use of a 3D accelerator
card is encouraged.
The Virtual Cell is currently using WebStart
to avoid the necessity for manual installation
of Java 3D, Java Media Framework, and other
support libraries. Users who have older versions
of Java3D installed should upgrade to 1.3 or later
since the presence of older libraries will cause
problems for the software.
Mac OS users currently need to be using OS X 10.3.1 or later and
will need to download and run the Java3D and Java Advanced Imaging
update last seen at
apple.com
before using the Virtual Cell client on each machine.
Due to limitations with Apple's Safari browser,
it is recommended that OS X users use the
Mozilla or Mozilla
Firefox browsers.
Questions should be directed to the message board or to the Feedback Page.
